About the city

Beausoleil - a town on the hills just above Monaco

Beausoleil is a town on the hills just above Monaco, Its name in French means ‘Beautiful Sun’.

Together with Roquebrune and Cap d’Ail, Beausoleil was  part of La Turbie. When it became a separate town in 1904,  the original plan was to call it Higher Monte-Carlo because of its location above the Principality. The final choice, however, was for a name that would be attractive for tourists – Beausoleil.

It is true that there is a lot of sun here, as the town is almost like one large terrace above Monaco at a height of 89 metres above sea level, and is almost a part of Monaco.
